"One of the great things about being a DJ is the opportunity
for travel. The crowd in Prague were totally up for anything I threw at
them, I had a wicked time...
....and the booze was cheap!"

Prague is unqestionably one of the
finest cities in the world and, as far as clubbing goes, it's probably the
cheapest place to hear your favorite jocks. With the absurdly cheap drinks
challenging any british vistor, DJs tend to really let rip.
One thousand czech mates party in a disused community centre to the sounds
of Way Out West's Nick Warren. A naive but enthusiatic crowd high on e thanks
to that sweaty british drug dealer you seem to bump into every time you
go abroad. A small bunch of spotters position themselves under Warren's
booth and respond to every technical itch.
Watching Warren is like watching a surfer ride waves, as he bounces and
sways behind the booth with his face buried in the mixer. He is the master
of the quick mix, he shows just how progressive ahrd house and certain shades
of techno are closer together than ever before. In a club where champagne
costs 4 a bottle, tonight had to live up to all expectations, as for Warren
his well structered set more than matche dthe stunning architecture of this
beautiful european city. From the banging highlights such as DJ Randy's
'Pandomia' and Freek & Mac Zimms 'Submissions', down to the sublime sweeping
soundscape of Mooman's 'Galaxia' you can see him working the crowd, slowly
moulding the atmosphere into a fluid pulsating percussive monster, reaching
it's climax with dark age 'Ancient Quest' with it's roof lifting synth line.
Warren rocked it! |
